The terms you agree to when you buy from us — what we promise, what we ask of you, and how we put things right when something goes wrong.

These terms govern your purchase from Proper Coffee.
By placing an order you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.
Our equipment is made by hand in Michigan. Because of that, small variations in finish, grain and dimension are normal and are not defects — they are the consequence of individual manufacture rather than mass production.
Product photographs are representative. Colours vary between screens. Where a product carries a stated lead time, it is made to order after you buy it.
Some products in our Industrial line are priced on enquiry rather than sold directly through this site. Contact us for pricing and lead times.
All prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes, duties or import charges. Your order is an offer to buy; a contract forms when we accept it by confirming the order to you by email.
We may decline or cancel an order — refunding you in full — if an item is unavailable, if a price or description was published in error, or if we cannot ship to your address. We will always tell you why.
Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Most in-stock orders ship within 3–5 business days. Products with a noted lead time are made to order and ship within the stated timeframe.

We ship to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Japan. On international orders you are the importer of record and are responsible for any duties, taxes or customs charges — these are not included in the price you pay us and are not refundable by us.
Risk of loss passes to you on delivery to the carrier. If a shipment arrives damaged, tell us within 7 days of delivery and keep the packaging — we will need photographs to make a carrier claim.
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for unused items in their original packaging. Custom and made-to-order items are non-refundable. Email info@propercoffee.co to start a return.
Return shipping is at your cost unless the item was faulty or we sent the wrong thing. Refunds are issued to the original payment method once we receive and inspect the item.
If you are in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods, for any reason. That right sits alongside — and is not limited by — the 30-day policy above. It does not apply to goods made to your specification.
Every Proper Coffee product carries a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Glass components — tubes, vessels and filters — are warranted for 1 year. If something breaks because of a manufacturing defect within that period, we will replace it free of charge.
The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover:
The warranty runs from the delivery date and is offered to the original purchaser. To claim, email info@propercoffee.co with your order number and photographs of the fault. We may ask you to return the item; we pay return shipping on a valid warranty claim.
Your statutory rights are not affected. This warranty is in addition to the rights the law gives you as a consumer, including under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in the United States and consumer guarantees legislation in the EU, UK, Canada, Australia and Japan. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Our equipment uses glass and handles hot water. Read the instructions supplied with your system. Never place hot glass on a cold surface or cold glass under hot water — thermal shock breaks glass. Keep assembled towers on a stable, level surface away from where they can be knocked over.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights always take precedence.
The content of this site — text, photographs, designs and the products themselves — belongs to us. You may not reproduce it commercially without permission. Do not attempt to disrupt the site or access parts of it you are not authorised to use.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings there.
We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here when you place your order, so the effective date at the top of this page is what governs your purchase.
